Why Jesus?

As I reflect on my journey of faith, I often find myself asking: Why Jesus? What makes Him the way, the truth, and the life? For me, the answer lies in how Jesus has transformed my life in ways nothing else could.

Growing up, attending Sunday School was non-negotiable in my family. My mom ensured we never missed church, and since our home was just a two-minute walk from the building, there were no excuses. At the time, it felt like a chore. But when I encountered Jesus for myself, everything changed. I became grateful for my mom’s persistence. His love, forgiveness, and peace began to heal my past wounds and gave me a renewed sense of purpose and direction. I also saw miracles not just in my life but in other people’s lives which made Him more real to me.

When life throws challenges my way, I’m deeply comforted knowing I don’t have to face them alone. Though it often takes time to fully surrender my worries to Him, I’m so grateful to have a loving, powerful Savior who can handle it all.

Jesus isn’t just a personal experience; He’s a historical figure who has impacted millions over centuries. Consider the apostles who risked everything to spread His message or the countless martyrs who died for their faith. History is filled with lives transformed by Jesus.

Take the woman at the well (John 4), who found acceptance and forgiveness in Him, or the apostle Paul (Acts 9), who went from persecuting Christians to passionately following Jesus. These stories are powerful reminders of the life-changing impact of encountering Christ.

So, why Jesus? For me, it’s because He satisfies my deepest longings for love, forgiveness, and purpose. He gives my life meaning and peace. What is your "why" for Jesus? If you don’t yet know Him, I hope this encourages you to start seeking Him.

Why the Bible?

What about the Bible? Why do I believe it’s the inspired Word of God? For me, the Bible speaks to my life in ways no other book ever has.

I remember taking time to read the Gospels and being struck by the raw emotion and honesty of the writers. Jesus’ life—so loving, so sacrificial—left a deep impression on me. Every scripture felt like it spoke directly to my circumstances, reminding me I wasn’t alone.

When I decided to read the Bible in a year, I doubted I’d follow through. But starting from Genesis, I saw God’s hand at work through His people's struggles and His unrelenting love, even in their disobedience. It reassured me that God was in control of my life, too—always with my best interests at heart.

The Bible is more than a collection of stories or poems; it’s a historical document verified by archaeology and other fields. Discoveries like the Dead Sea Scrolls confirm its accuracy, while archaeological finds validate the events it describes.

Even more compelling are its fulfilled prophecies. From Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection to predictions of end times, the Bible proves itself to be divinely inspired. As 2 Timothy 3:16-17 says, “All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness.”

So why the Bible? For me, it’s the only book that has truly changed my life. The only book that speaks daily to my circumstances and has answers to every situation time and time again. Its amazing! My question to you is: what does the Bible mean to you? If it’s just something you pick up only in church or don’t believe in, I encourage you to start exploring it. Begin with half or quarter a chapter daily, size dependent, and see how it transforms your life.

Why Christianity?

Finally, why Christianity? Why do I believe it’s the great way to live? For me, it’s about how Christianity has transformed not only my life but also countless others.

The message of Jesus—His love for humanity and His genuine compassion—comes alive through Christianity. For me, it started with reluctantly going to church. Later, I discovered a personal relationship with God, which brought me peace and purpose I had never known. Today, I’m grateful for both God’s presence and a community of like-minded believers to walk through life with.

Yes, Christianity has many denominations, and it’s important to approach this diversity thoughtfully. Research, study the Bible, and seek God earnestly. He will guide you to the right place and community.

Christianity is more than a personal faith; it’s a global movement of people committed to living out love, hope, and justice. From charities founded by Christians to social justice movements inspired by biblical values, Christianity has been a force for good throughout history.

Think of the apostles, who gave everything to spread the gospel, or the countless martyrs whose sacrifices changed the world. These stories remind me of the transformative power of Christianity.

So, why Christianity? For me, it’s the only way of life that fulfills my deepest longings for meaning, purpose, and fulfillment. Though I was born into the faith, I now confidently identify as a Christian—an heir of God and joint heir with Christ!

If you’re a Christian, ask yourself: why Christianity? Is your "why" strong and grounded? I know so many people who were Christians but have given up on their faith because their why was not strong and grounded. A deep introspection is needed. And if you’re not a Christian, why not explore it?

My hope is that this encourages you to learn more about Jesus, the Bible, and the faith that has changed my life.
